As many of you know, Brendan painted the Palestinian flag on our front door a few weeks ago. Many walkers and neighbours have noticed the flag, and asked us which flag it is. We were surprised that more people didn't know the Palestinian Flag, or their plight! This morning I added the words #FreePalestine for all the people looking at the sign, but not brave enough to ask us about it. Hopefully this should raise more awareness now. — at Hackett's Cove, NS.

So, you guys know I live on a very busy tourist highway, on the way to Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, and we also live across the street from a factory, so there are always people walking by, the workers on their breaks, and walkers on their walks. This is how I generate so much attention by our door signs.
I just had two gentlemen walk by as I was out on my way to the greenhouse, and they asked if they could come inside and check it out. I brought them in, and they were asking all sorts of questions, one of the guys has a glass greenhouse and was figuring how to get it producing in the winter. The other guy says to me: "So is your husband Palestinian? I see your Free Palestine sign on the door" I told him, no, we are not Palestinian, we have much empathy for their suffering, and as I began to tell him about the Truth of the Occupation of Palestine, he cuts me short and says: "I'm from Syria, I know, and you are very brave to put that sign, if I did I would be a 'terrorist'"
Well, he and I started talking about all the issues caused by western imperialism, and his friend was receiving quite the education. I wonder if this is the first time he had ever heard the truth. We talked about how important is it, that we become our own media, tell our own stories, and inform the world, what the tv, radio and newspapers will never say. I hope maybe he will feel more comfortable speaking out, now that he knows someone has his back.
